Point-of-Care Ultrasound Reimbursement and Coding
摘要
Successful execution of a point-of-care ultrasound program requires a fundamental understanding of coding and reimbursement. The ability to achieve meaningful reimbursement provides an ultrasound (US) program with the resources needed for longstanding support. This landscape continues to change rapidly and should be closely monitored by those leading point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) efforts in clinical practice. The following chapter provides the readers with a comprehensive overview of coding and reimbursement as it pertains to point-of-care ultrasound. It is broken down into easily digestible sections that provide the novice reader a framework for understanding core topics while also delving into significant details on key issues and emerging trends for the more experienced point-of-care ultrasound practitioner. The resources provided are meant to build a competent understanding of ultrasound coding and reimbursement, both for in-hospital settings such as emergency departments (EDs) and outpatient clinic environments.
