Austere environments provide a challenge to even the most developed of medical systems. This is further complicated by events resulting in nuclear fallout, whether fission- or fusion-related events or deployment of “dirty bombs.” The key is to set a robust command and control environment away from the contaminated zone and to address evacuation and treatment measures. This chapter addresses these nuclear injuries in depth.
