A virtue is an excellent trait of character, and the virtuous are thought to exemplify the best of human moral activity. Might a sense of humor be a virtue? This chapter explores philosophical accounts of humor as a virtue and humor’s relation to cardinal virtues such as wisdom, temperance, and courage.
