Irony, the Modern Rhetorical Tradition, and Philosophy
摘要
Building on the rhetorical tradition in Antiquity, which was the topic of Chap. 7 above, Don and Alleen Nilsen begin by describing the modern rhetorical tradition and tracing the place of irony in it. Lydia Amir follows with an investigation of the place of irony in philosophy, because Irony is generally considered significant for philosophers. This chapter aims at revising the accepted view and at explaining its prevalence, if found false.
