The Role of Moldova in Strengthening the International Protection Mechanisms for Ukrainian Refugees
摘要
The military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine has generated one of the largest influxes of refugees on the European continent since World War II. In the given situation, authorities have combined efforts and unanimously expressed solidarity with the Ukrainian people, intervening with concrete measures of logistical, humanitarian, food, and medical support provided to Ukrainian refugees, as well as to the government in Kyiv. This chapter aims to address the ongoing refugee crisis stemming from Russia’s war of aggression, focusing specifically on the humanitarian aid efforts undertaken by the Republic of Moldova. It will explore how Moldova has mobilised resources and support systems to assist Ukrainian refugees, highlighting key initiatives and partnerships that have emerged in this challenging context. The commitment of Moldova to aid those displaced by conflict underscores the importance of regional cooperation in addressing humanitarian needs during crises.
