The Intersection of Literature, Culture and Gender Studies: Exploring Albanian Students’ Perspectives
摘要
Being an important and timely study field that explores the social, cultural, and political dimensions of gender, Gender Studies has been recently introduced in Albania, too. Despite the limited number of Gender Study courses offered in Albanian universities, the students attending these courses have been exposed to the intersection of gender with literature and culture. However, little is known about Albanian students’ experiences and perceptions of Gender Study courses. This paper explores the Albanian students’ perspectives on gender studies and their opinions about the intersection of literature in gender studies with culture. Specifically, this paper examines how literary representations of gender from American literature texts intersect with Albanian cultural and social contexts. Moreover, we observe students’ reported experiences and perceptions to notice how these representations reflect and shape broader cultural and social dynamics.
