The article discusses the results of a corpus-based study on specialized language in the field of speech and language therapy (SLT). We analyzed 119 speech and language therapy terms related to the names of speech and language disorders and their symptoms to examine their use and frequency in the National Corpus of Polish (NKJP). The analyses allowed us to identify the terms that can lead to misunderstanding when used in communication with people without specialized knowledge of speech and language therapy, and, as such, whose meaning needs to be clarified.
