A Web-Based Collaborative Virtual Reality Class for Gamified Learning of Chemical Molecules
摘要
With the rise of Virtual Reality (VR) and the metaverse, virtual classrooms have emerged as innovative tools for learning. The authors’ study focuses on developing a VR classroom for high school chemistry to help students visualize chemical molecules through 3D models in an interactive environment. In this paper, the authors propose MolEscapeVR, a VR chemistry lesson designed to enhance student engagement and interest in chemistry. It features two distinct virtual environments: an expository classroom where students interact with 3D structures of common molecules, and an escape room educational game. To ensure broad compatibility across devices and eliminate the need for installations or updates. The study demonstrates how VR collaborative environments can boost student interest and involvement in chemistry while sparking curiosity and motivation. This paper explores the role of VR in teaching chemical structures, and its impact on student engagement and interest by the evaluation results.
