Commentary on “Bringing It Altogether and Moving Forward”: AIB—Where We’ve Been, Where We’re Going
摘要
I look at the origins, evolution, and future of the field of International Business (IB) and of its professional organizations. I assess the status of IB among its peers by the extent to which it has distinctive areas of expertise, dedicated academic departments, and highly cited journals. I look at what the pattern of citations of the field’s top journal tells us about intellectual exchanges between IB and its peers. I document the shift in scholarship from the United States to Europe and Asia and draw some tentative implications of the above for the future of the field.
