The aim of this chapter is to present the findings of selected empirical studies on foreign language anxiety, foreign language enjoyment, and the relationship between them, conducted in various countries and among foreign language users of different ages and proficiency in a FL. Although a description of the chronological development of research on FLE and FLA lies beyond the scope of the present monograph, this chapter will briefly present the development of the recent studies on the relationship between these two emotions between the year 2014 and 2022. This will be proceeded with a section focusing on a review of selected empirical research on language anxiety that have been carried out for the last ten years, and a section devoted to empirical studies which investigated FLE in relation to various sociobiographical, personal, and emotional factors.
