In this chapter we analyze a few problems of linear elastostatics that are relatively simple mathematically. These include rods, layers, circular cylindrical tubes and spherical shells. Some of them are based on trial solutions or the trial-and-error method. Others are solved directly using well-known and simple mathematical methods. Either the stress formulation or the displacement formulation may be used depending on the situation.

摘要
