Mental Health Support Post-Release from Prison
摘要
The transition period from prison release to societal reintegration is highly challenging. For individuals with existing mental health conditions, the problems increase exponentially. Individuals with mental health diagnoses are lost to follow-up and have poor social support, contributing to reoffending. Persons who seek mental health follow-up are unable to avail themselves of services due to a lack of health insurance coverage. All these factors increase rates of recidivism and overburden the system. This chapter focuses on mental health support after release from prison.
