Mushroom Fusion: Blending Science and Nature for Aesthetic Marvels
摘要
Traditionally acknowledged for bioactive properties, mushrooms are now emerging as a novel focus in cosmetic industry, uncovering their potential for use in aesthetic formulations. A variety of mushrooms, as well as the nutrients they contain, have been proved to be beneficial to skin and hair. Medicinal mushrooms are becoming more popular as a possible element in cutting-edge skincare products. This chapter delves into the potential of mushroom-based aesthetic skincare, concentrating on enhancing cosmetic appearance by addressing issues like scars, skin laxity, wrinkles, moles, liver spots, excess fat, cellulite, undesired hair, skin discoloration, and spider veins. It also explores the potential of mushroom-based cosmeceuticals, and this integration aligns with support for sustainability by promoting biodiversity, enhancing sustainable agricultural practices, supporting local communities, and reducing the ecological impact of the beauty industry. Mushroom bioactive compounds such as polysaccharides, triterpenoids, polyphenols, and peptides offer specific benefits to skin health. These ingredients are pivotal in skincare formulations due to their antiaging, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. This chapter also highlights the advantages and disadvantages of combining these miraculous substances into modern cosmetic procedures, as well as paving the way for further research and improvement in this emerging biotechnology field.
