Alignment and the New Workplace
摘要
In this chapter, we conclude the book by returning to the two central points the book built on. The first point is that in the new workplace, there is not one new normal. Instead, there is a diversity of workplace strategies and a diversity of employee work location preferences. This diversity gives rise to the nine employee personas we introduced on the pages of this book. The second point is that organizations and employees have a chance to craft their “new normal” by finding alignment. We summarize the macro, meso, and micro alignment tactics that we previously suggested for remote-first, office-forward, and hybrid companies, respectively. In doing so, we show how focusing these alignment efforts on addressing the “missing piece” of each strategy aligns all three layers of the organization toward a common objective. We conclude by inviting readers to see the new workplace not as a field to wage battle on, but as a field of opportunities where work organizations and employees have a chance to build a new workplace that works for them.
