This chapter provides a comprehensive review of the impact of large language models (LLMs) and artificial intelligence (AI) in the construction sector. The construction industry is on the rise for economic growth. Because of reliance on conventional practices, the construction sector suffers from inadequacies, project delays, and budget overruns. Yet, with a potential merger of AI and LLM, this could all change, heralding new productivity boosts, safety, and resource efficiency. The literature review deduced that AI and LLM are applied in the construction industry for better scheduling and task allocation, on-site real-time monitoring, preventative maintenance, and interrelated entrepreneurial efforts in repetitive endeavors (i.e., bricklaying) and three-dimensional (3D) printing. There are safety improvements through computer vision and wearable technological devices and construction productivity increases with greener construction sites. AI is not implemented on a grand scale in the construction industry due to significant issues like costly integration, lack of qualified personnel, and difficult system development life cycle integrations. Furthermore, issues to integration cite ethical considerations of job redundancy and biased AI results. The relevance of this project is to provide comprehensive awareness of possible off-site productivity with an AI-constructed merger in construction while noting gigantic obstacles and ethical implications. These project findings would be applicable to construction fields and government as their careers will be changing with the integration of artificial intelligence in the construction field.
