Materials and Methods
摘要
This chapter outlines the materials and methods employed to conduct the research presented in this book. The methods entail an evaluation of the “Change the Design of Your Life” (CDL) art therapy program piloted in five Australian prisons. Using a mixed-methods exploratory design weighted toward qualitative analysis, the study integrates pretest–posttest questionnaires, behavioral observations, and an inmate art exhibition to explore the program’s impact on emotional well-being and rehabilitation in support of recidivism prevention. The research design accounts for the complexities of prison environments, including limited educational attainment, restricted learning opportunities, and security constraints, to ensure a robust and inclusive methodology. This study employs an innovative multipronged methodology to address significant knowledge gaps in Australian prison art therapy, thereby aiming to inform future rehabilitative initiatives.
