This chapter is aimed at studies of microphysical properties of snow including effective snow grain diameter and its relationship with the snow specific surface area. The shapes of crystals in snow are discussed. Layered nature of snow layers and geometry of snow surfaces are reviewed. In addition, optical constants of ice and types of light absorbing particles in natural snow are discussed.

摘要

This chapter is aimed at studies of microphysical properties of snow including effective snow grain diameter and its relationship with the snow specific surface area. The shapes of crystals in snow are discussed. Layered nature of snow layers and geometry of snow surfaces are reviewed. In addition, optical constants of ice and types of light absorbing particles in natural snow are discussed.
