Horrified by Indigenous American matriarchies, Europeans tweaked their extant One Story of Evil Eve, producing The One Story of Indian Eve. Under it, they denigrated Indigenous women politically, socially, economically, and spiritually through targeted, unpunished rape and murder. Matriarchal marriage forms, clan kinships, inheritance, civic roles, and rights were obviated, with Indian Boarding School and the Dawes Era forcing Victorian mores on girls, renaming and training them for caste-based menial work. Traditional First Woman-Mother Earth stories were shushed, reformulated by Euro-patriarchy as historical and/or anthropological scholarship.
