Panoramic x-rays are vital tools in the diagnosis and detection of various dental conditions. However, the presence of positioning errors in panoramic X-rays can greatly diminish the quality of the radiograph and render it undiagnostic. The purpose of this study is to provide a low-cost, simple technique for decreasing positioning errors in panoramic X-rays in dental offices. This paper uses a depth map calculated using two stereo images combined with facial landmark detection to determine whether tilt is proper for patient X-ray positioning. If the patient’s head is tilted too far back or then it produces a prompt to adjust the patient’s head positioning.
