Productivity Analysis of Moroccan Cultural Enterprises: Multilevel Approaches on Regional Data
摘要
The aim of this article is to identify the factors that explain the productivity of Moroccan cultural firms. We use individual data from 1,170 companies throughout Morocco. Our results show that productivity is mainly linked to the age and size of the companies, as well as to their debt burden. For region-specific variables, we find that population density, GDP per capita and the number of airports per region have a positive and significant impact. The implications of this study could help decision-makers at the Ministry of Culture to guide subsidies to companies. At regional level, it would be useful to identify the levers for promoting the activities of companies based there. In addition, the study high-lights the relevance of using multi-level models to process data with a hierarchical structure.
