The efficient utilization of wind energy requires precise assessments of wind energy density, a crucial parameter for wind power generation. The Rayleigh method has been employed for estimating wind energy density due to its simplicity and applicability. This research presents a comprehensive study on the calculation of wind energy utilizing the Rayleigh method for four provinces of Iraq. The study investigated the mean wind speed, most frequent wind speed, and wind energy density for the selected sites. The comparison based on the calculation for the selected sites has been executed. It was concluded that Al Basra Governorate represents the most promising location for exploiting and harnessing wind energy in Iraq.
