This chapter draws together the behaviours that define and explain the ableist intrusions that shape the lives of many disabled women. In gathering their narratives, this study has shown that they undertake significant safety work to avoid unwanted touching in public space. Further, this chapter underlines the evident connection between stereotypes of disability and gender and the way that strangers feel entitled to intrude on disabled women’s bodies. This chapter also situates this study as a bridge between disability studies and feminist criminology and points towards the importance of scholarship in this area.
