The Cross-Cultural Equivalence of Predictor, Moderator and Outcome Variables Related to Job Insecurity in Academic Settings: A Maximum Likelihood Alignment Approach
摘要
As part of a large cross-cultural study on job insecurity in higher education, the present chapter addresses the appropriateness of comparing results obtained with the same measures in multiple countries. Specifically, we examined a number of predictors, moderators and outcomes of job insecurity in academic settings. The same nine measures were administered to a sample of 4101 participants from ten countries and compared in terms of measurement equivalence. Both item- and scale-level invariances were tested using the maximum likelihood alignment method. Results reveal that strict alignment was not present for any of the investigated measures but suggested nevertheless for each measure a level of confidence with which to compare the different-country results. Implications for theory and practice derive from these results.
