Disease prevention is key to maximizing children’s ability to attend and participate in education. Maintaining high rates of immunizations protects both students and the communities in which they live. Unfortunately, rates of age appropriate vaccination have declined since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Because they are trusted sources of information for families, school-based providers play a critical role in promoting and ensuring appropriate school-age vaccination coverage. We can collectively work to get children back on track to catch up with immunizations. School tracking of immunization rates helps communities prevent and respond rapidly to any outbreak threats.
