Depression is one of the most common psychiatric disorders in children and adolescents. Severe depression can lead to suicidality. The rate of suicide steadily increased in the past decade becoming the second leading cause of death among youths ages 10–24 years old. This chapter discusses diagnosis, screening, and treatment recommendations of patients presenting with depressive symptoms and suicidal thoughts and behaviors.
