The incidence of children with tracheostomy tubes is quite low with it estimated to be only 0.2% of children within pediatric referral hospitals that undergo tracheostomy (Singh and Zubair, Pediatric tracheostomy. StatPearls [Internet]. August 17, 2023). However, with advances in medical technology, we are seeing higher numbers of medically complex children in the community including those with tracheostomies. This chapter will highlight what is needed for a child with a tracheostomy to be able to attend school.
