Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is divided into two specific diagnoses: Ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD). These chronic, lifelong gastrointestinal conditions can be diagnosed in children and adolescents. Individuals with IBD can present with a wide range of symptoms that can make it challenging to distinguish from other common gastrointestinal illnesses. This chapter will present three pediatric cases that will help one recognize the clinical manifestations of a potential IBD presentation, begin a preliminary evaluation, and monitor the health maintenance and complications of IBD patients.
