Environmental emergencies in sports medicine include a wide array of conditions. Proper response requires preparation and planning, in addition to an appropriate medical response. This chapter presents three cases that cover the most common environmental emergencies seen in sports medicine and those most likely to be encountered in a school environment. Guidance on preparation, response, and recovery are provided utilizing an evidence-based approach.
