Hepatitis is the process of inflammation and/or necrosis of liver tissue that can be caused by infection, drugs and toxins, or metabolic and autoimmune disorders. The main etiology of hepatitis in children is from a viral infection. In this chapter we will discuss infectious and non-infectious causes of hepatitis, presenting signs and symptoms, screening and diagnosis, and management.
