Invasive Breast Cancer
摘要
Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer type worldwide excluding skin cancer. For women, breast cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer mortality globally and is second only to lung cancer in the United States (American Cancer Society. Cancer Facts & Figures, 2017). Most patients with newly diagnosed breast cancers present with non-metastatic disease (early stage or locally advanced), while only 6% of patients present with de novo metastatic disease (Giaquinto et al., CA: Cancer J Clin 72:524–541, 2022). Currently, treatment of breast cancer is provided in a multidisciplinary setting including collaboration of surgical, medical, and radiation oncology teams and is based on both anatomic stage and biological factors. This approach results in improved outcomes (Kesson et al., BMJ. 344:e2718, 2012).
