An overview of the basic concepts of quantum mechanics is provided in the chapter including the quantized states of linear harmonic oscillator. This chapter also presents the connection between the abstract bra and ket vectors and the wave function of quantum mechanics and a brief discussion on matrix representation of the states and operators. A brief discussion of time independent perturbation theory is also given.
