Therapy is described as a process of mutual humanisation informed by the radical humanism of Paulo Freire. Radical systemic humanism is situated within a systemic, collaborative framework for practice. The importance of joint action and challenge towards a confining status quo are emphasised. A critique of institutional policies that objectify children and families receiving a service is encouraged. Salient values that underpin the approach are identified, these being: caring curiosity, systemic humility, a capacity to avoid “domestication” and a call to celebrate inspiration from those with whom we work. Retrospection on practice as a therapist is included with descriptions of “what matters” most.

摘要
