Hygro-Mechanical Modelling of Wooden Cultural Objects for Damage and Risk Assessment as a Tool for Preventive Conservation
摘要
The description at hand presents an overview of the Cultwood research project at the Technische Universität Dresden, Institute for Structural Analysis, and introduces some of the results obtained so far. In the validation project, a tool for damage and risk assessment of conservation and restoration measures on wooden art objects is developed using the finite element simulation method. The tool is applied to two historical art objects. In addition to the development of the complex material models, the results of preliminary experiments carried out to identify parameters and to validate the interaction behaviour of wood and paint layers are examined. Within this publication, the used materials and the experimental and numerical methods as well as selected experimental and numerical results are presented. The advantages of the tool for the restoration of wooden artwork and the application range are discussed.
