This paper considers slags and metal items from the single-layer Srubnaya culture settlement of Pokrovskoe in the Southern Urals. The composition of 16 slag specimens was studied by XRF, optical microscopy, SEM-EDS, and LA-ICP-MS. All samples demonstrate an identical composition and belong to the sulfide-containing glassy mineralogical type. A number of mineralogical and geochemical markers indicate the use of chalcocite-covellite ores from Kargaly Cu sandstones. The similarity of the mineralogy and chemical composition of the Pokrovskoe settlement slags with previously studied Late Bronze Age samples from the Southern Cis-Urals suggests the stable metal-producing technology used by the people of the Srubnaya culture. A single discovery of a slagged ceramic piece does not yet allow us to reconstruct the features of metal smelting technology as the artifact could be either part of a crucible or a fragment of kitchen ceramic, which was somehow used during the smelting process.
