This paper considers the usability of nitrogen and carbon isotope measurements obtained during radiocarbon dating to study the diet of ancient societies. This problem is examined relying on the data from the Bronze Age burial grounds in the Southern Urals: Kamenny Ambar-5, Stepnoe-1, and Stepnoe-7. The present data show that AMS dating can be used to analyze the basis of the protein diets of ancient societies. The use and interpretation of these data for a more detailed analysis may be associated with potential distortions of the values due to the possible low sensitivity of the equipment used. To exclude distorted values from a detailed analysis, detailed information on laboratories and equipment used should be provided when publishing data.

摘要
