This chapter presents a brief history of the SPEC System File Server (SFS) benchmarks and takes a closer look at SPEC SFS 2014 and SPECstorage Solution 2020 benchmarks. It then introduces the benchmarks from the Storage Performance Council (SPC) and the IOzone file system benchmark. Finally, the Flexible I/O Tester (fio) is presented, showing some examples of how it can be used to measure I/O performance.
