This paper presents the design choices, challenges, and practical issues of scaling evolutionary algorithms (EAs) in the cloud using containers. To exemplify these challenges practically, we present a case study where we evolve a fuzzy controller using an event-driven EA. We show how EAs can be scaled by using multiple containers in parallel to speed up the evolutionary process. We present some preliminary results on the performance of the event-driven EA when running locally and in the cloud.

摘要

This paper presents the design choices, challenges, and practical issues of scaling evolutionary algorithms (EAs) in the cloud using containers. To exemplify these challenges practically, we present a case study where we evolve a fuzzy controller using an event-driven EA. We show how EAs can be scaled by using multiple containers in parallel to speed up the evolutionary process. We present some preliminary results on the performance of the event-driven EA when running locally and in the cloud.
