This study explores the emerging field of digital twins in healthcare and public health. Digital twins, which are virtual representations of real-world objects or systems, have the potential to revolutionize how we approach personalized medicine, drug discovery, and clinical decision-making. In various areas of healthcare, such as radiology, surgery, and disease management, digital twins can serve as virtual counterparts for medical equipment and care processes. They can also be used to advance clinical development, precision therapies, and personalized treatments by creating computational models and simulating virtual patients. One of the key factors driving the success of digital twins is the ability to integrate diverse biological data into comprehensive virtual patient models. This allows for more efficient and tailored treatments. However, using digital twins raises important ethical questions that must be carefully considered.
