Neuroplasticity: Adopt a Growth Mindset to Power up Brain-Based Learning
摘要
Understanding neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to form new neural pathways through learning and experience—provides a scientific foundation for adopting a growth mindset in nursing education. Maintaining a growth mindset during nursing school can be challenging due to multiple demands and pressures; however, understanding why and how the brain changes in response to learning helps students persist through difficulties. The chapter explores common obstacles to maintaining a growth mindset and provides practical strategies for overcoming these challenges. Case studies contrast fixed versus growth mindset approaches to nursing school challenges, demonstrating how mindset influences learning outcomes and clinical performance. By embracing neuroplasticity and a growth mindset, students enhance their capacity for learning, improving their success in nursing school and laying the foundation for lifelong professional development. Interactive learning activities and chapter synthesis exercises help students apply and integrate key concepts.
