NCLEX Essentials: From Application to Examination
摘要
Passing the NCLEX examination is required for nursing licensure and marks the transition from nursing student to practicing nurse. Understanding this licensure process early in nursing education helps students prepare throughout their nursing program. This chapter provides a comprehensive overview of the NCLEX process, from application through examination. It explains the role of regulatory boards in licensure, details the steps required for NCLEX application, and describes the exam’s structure and content distribution. The chapter explores different question types, including Next Generation NCLEX (NGN) formats, and explains Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT). Special attention is given to understanding how nursing school content aligns with NCLEX Client Needs Categories and how critical thinking skills developed throughout nursing education support NCLEX success. A synthesis activity helps students prepare for their NCLEX application.
