Textual Analysis of Klein’s “Erlangen Program”

Part of the difficulty one encounters in reading Klein’s text stems from its rather obscure and uneven style. One encounters many vague allusions to matters left unexplained, an approach that can easily leave a reader wondering whether they might be missing important points. One should not forget, however, that Klein’s original readership included his fellow colleagues in Erlangen’s philosophical faculty, older men he hoped to impress without belittling their intelligence.
