The inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) runs in the mandibular canal. However, due to its anatomical location, this nerve is at risk of injury during various dental procedures such as dental implant placement, orthognathic surgery, and extraction of the mandibular third molar. In this chapter, we will review the inferior alveolar nerve injury caused by the mandibular third molar extraction.
