Since 1999, the Rural Development Administration (RDA), in collaboration with provincial Agricultural Technology Institutes, has been conducting a soil surveySoil survey to support eco-friendly agriculture under a 1998 environmental law. Every four years, soil samples were collected from 19 climateClimate zones, encompassing paddy fields, greenhouses, uplands, and orchards. From 1999 to 2020, 34,863 samples were analyzed, revealing increases in pH and available silicate across all areas. Organic matter in paddy soil rose from 22 to 27 g/kg, while greenhouse soils showed significant increases in pH, electrical conductivity, organic matter, and calcium, suggesting nutrient accumulation. Available phosphorus in upland soils grew from 547 to 657 mg/kg. Upland soils (soils collected from uplands) and orchard soils (soils taken from orchards) also showed upward trends in pH, organic matter, and nutrients. Heavy metals in all soils were below concern thresholds as per the Soil Environment Conservation Act.
