Social networks’ explosive growth has changed the way people, especially young people, engage with the digital world. There are many worries about the amount of time kids spend online and the content they are exposed to. Parental control software can be used to monitor and limit Internet usage, but they need to be installed and are easily circumvented. The integration of parental control methods directly into the home router, as proposed in this paper, offers a novel alternative. The router’s central location within the home network facilitates monitoring and management of Internet consumption across all connected devices. This method provides granular packet inspection, scalability, and centralized control, allowing for a thorough examination of network traffic, including social network activity. The architecture of the suggested solution consists of modules for social network identification, traffic analysis, and packet capture and inspection.
