Alternative Narratives on Nationalism, Religion and Market
摘要
Flag waving nationalism (Skitka, Journal of Applied Social Psychology 35:1995–2011, 2005) is growing across the globe along with reactionary market fundamentalism which collaborates with religiousReligious politics to access stateState powerPower. Flag waving nationalism is not a nation building exercise (Kolst⊘, Ethnic and Racial Studies 29(4):676–701, 2006). It neither provokes patriotism nor helps to build unity among people. It is a sign of deep anxiety created by capitalismCapitalism. It is also a response to capitalist crisisCrisis. The flag waving nationalism helps in hiding the failures of capitalismCapitalism and increase the life span and legitimacy of crumbling Westphalian nation-stateState as the organising unit of globalGlobal capitalismCapitalism (Buzan and Little, Review of International Studies 25:89–104, 1999; Robinson, Historical Materialism and Globalisation, Routledge, 2016.).
