Ultrasound-guided nerve blocks are an essential part of the multimodal approach to the treatment of acute pain. This chapter summarizes a general approach to performing ultrasound-guided nerve blocks detailing equipment, proper technique, systems to promote safety, documentation, exclusion criteria, and possible adverse effects. We focus on common and high-yield blocks in this chapter: tibial nerve, popliteal sciatic nerve, infrainguinal fascia iliaca plane, suprainguinal fascia iliaca, pericapsular nerve group (PENG), forearm nerves, interscalene brachial plexus, supraclavicular brachial plexus, retroclavicular approach to the infraclavicular region (RAPTIR), interpectoral and pectoserratus, serratus anterior plane, erector spinae plane, greater occipital nerve, and stellate ganglion.
