The use of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) to evaluate for biliary colic or cholecystitis is a common application in practice. However, the appropriately trained clinician can expand the use of POCUS well beyond this focused area to evaluate for pathology of the liver, pancreas, and spleen. These organs typically demonstrate homogeneous echotexture with recognizable anatomy. Variations from this are often apparent to the attentive eye and can help clinicians provide more timely care to patients presenting with a myriad of symptoms referable to these organs.
