Sensors and biosensors as subfields are essential for numerous applications in the present-day context of analytical and diagnostic methods, from environmental to health-related ones. The incorporation of nanomaterials such as nanoclays has improved the sensitivity, selectivity, and efficiency of these devices. This chapter covers the general uses of the different types of nanoclays in sensing technology, biosensors, and bioelectronics. It provides general information about nanoclays in terms of structure and properties as well as about synthesis techniques and utilization of nanoclays in creating multi-functional sensor systems. Further, advances and future perspectives of the nanoclay-based sensors and bioelectronics are also discussed.
