This chapter presents a bibliographic review of the environmental analysis reported for processes of extraction and transformation of essential oils. Results are contrasted with the principles of circular economy and sustainable development goals. Several LCA studies of extraction and/or catalytic transformation of essential oils, published between 2009 and 2023, are analyzed. The use of environmental tools as Life Cycle Analysis allow to identify preventive and corrective actions for mitigating the potential environmental impacts of the process in industries such as the extraction and transformation of essential oils. In this way, more sustainable processes that follow circular economy principles can be achieved, using forest biomass residues and waste from juice industries, for example. Those actions not only promote the reduction of negative environmental impacts and the overexploitation of land, but also mitigate poverty, hunger, and inequalities.
