This chapter highlights the policy environments that guide the operation of community radio stations (CRS) in Nepal, India, and Bangladesh. Following the analysis of each country, information is organised under two main themes that address the external policies of each country: legally binding and ethical guidelines. The legally binding environment highlights the constitutional provisions, national media policies, and national community radio codes or policies. The ethical guidelines highlight any national-level protocols that initiatives follow to ensure integrity. Each of these key thematic areas is addressed individually under each country and then a consolidated overview is provided for an understanding across the South Asia region.
